Established in 1948 by Elmina Fortin and Stanislas Labbé, Laiterie Charlevoix has stayed in the Labbé family to this very day. Stanislas and Elmina’s great grandchildren are now the fourth generation to work for the family firm.
From its beginnings as a dairy farm selling its products in the Charlevoix region and on Québec’s North Shore, the business has evolved over the years to specialize in cheddar and fine cheeses. Today, Laiterie Charlevoix products are distributed throughout Canada.
In 2015 Laiterie Charlevoix acquired Fromagerie Atwater’s distribution division, which now operates as “Aux Terroirs.” In addition to its own products, Laiterie Charlevoix distributes cheese made by other local cheesemakers and Quebec companies.
